Rockin Photos is located in the NE Houston area, and is owned and operated by Jerry Bishop. Jerry has been doing photography professionally since 1980. He has been interested in photography since a very early age. In high school he was in the photography club for 3 years, was president of the photography club for two years, and was the official photographer for the school band, all sports activities, and was the photographer for the school newspaper and yearbook. He was in many out of school competitions and placed first and best of show in several of these competitions in the South Louisiana area. After high school, Jerry attended Louisiana State University and Nicholls State University studying Photojournalism. While at LSU, Jerry worked for Party Pics in Baton Rouge, taking pictures for Fraternity and Sorority parties, and taking posed glamour shots of students. After LSU, he attended NSU where he continued his studies in Photojournalism, and worked for the school newspaper & yearbook, where he won awards for his innovative photography, including "Picture of the Year".
Since leaving college, Jerry has done wedding photography, advertising photography, horticulture photography, portrait photography, and concert photography, as well as taking thousands of pictures of his family, and taking storm photos when time, nature and his wife would allow. Unrelated to photography, Jerry also obtained his EMT license and has worked in the ER of two hospitals, as well as volunteering with his local fire department's EMS unit. Jerry is also an accomplished Computer Design Drafter working in the Ship building, Environmental and Civil Engineering Industries.
